A base de servir solo a los hombres más importantes de la región, Beija se ha hecho rica e influyente y, eventualmente, separa a Antonio de su mujer.

In the early nineteenth century, Ana Jacinta de San José, nicknamed "Beija" is the most beautiful and coveted girl in the village of Araxa. She is engaged, and very much in love, with the wealthy Antonio Sampaio. Tragedy strikes when Beija´s beauty attracts the interest of powerful Comendador Mota, who kidnaps the girl and forces her to become his mistress. A disappointed Antonio marries Aninha Felizardo. Several years later, Beija, now a wealthy woman returns to Araxa. She buys a country house called the Chacara de Jatoba where she sets up an exclusive brothel regented by one courtesan: herself. Only serving the most important men in the region, Beija becomes rich and influential, and eventually manages to lure Antonio away from his wife.
